October 1-11, 2010 There are eight productions scheduled for this year's festival. Tickets for the premiere evening, October 1st, are priced at $35. Wine will be served. There are now only 4 performances of Woman Take Two available and 2 performances remaining for The World is my Home – The Life of Paul Robeson. Set in the mystical age of 1910, this adaptation of Shakespeare's famous play settles on Cat Island and follows the exploits of a group of lovers, laborers, fairies and officials. God's Trombones
Directed by Philip A. Burrows, this production will not only feature the junior choir from St. Francis Church, under the direction of Francis Richardson, but each night the production will move to a different church and the guest performer will be a pastor or minister who will deliver the opening piece, "Listen Lord – A Prayer" along with the sermon, "The Prodigal Son". All tickets for God’s Trombones will be sold from the Box Office. The quintessential magical Shakespeare play. Directed by Trinidadian director Patti Anne-Ali who returns to Shakespeare In Paradise after her successful co-direction of last year's The Tempest.
James Weldon Johnson’s God's Trombones, which is also sometimes known by its full title, God's Trombones: Seven Negro Sermons in Verse. This production, written in 1927, is based on a book of poems by Johnson patterned after traditional African-American religious oratory. This work has delighted audiences in theaters, churches and other venues for over 80 years and never grows old.
