Executive summary: Nicknamed "The Father of Labour", Sir Fawkes has been involved in nearly every progressive Bahamian moment between 1940 and 1950. In 1951, Sir Fawkes founded the first commerical bank in the Bahamas. In 1955, he founded the Bahamas Federation of Labour. Sir Fawkes also published four books during his lifetime and was knighted by the Queen in 1978.
