The Bahamas is an ideal destination for filming. The film-friendly government established the Bahamas Film Commission specifically to develop and facilitate film production in the Bahamas.

Atlantis Resort and The One and Only Ocean Club on Paradise Island have both been used as locations for several films and still photographic productions. Many movie and television producers have been lured to the many "wonders of Atlantis", such as the Mayan Temple; The Dig; white sandy beaches; lagoons and the hundreds of species of marine life that roam beneath the mysterious waters of the world's largest marine habitat.
Atlantis was featured prominently in the movie "After the Sunset". The New Line Cinema production was directed by Brent Ratner (Rush Hour I and II), and featured Pierce Brosnan (Thomas Crown Affair, Die Another Day); Salma Hayek (Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Desperado); Woody Harrelson (White Men Can't Jump, Indecent Proposal), and Don Cheadle (Swordfish).
Gold Rock Creek Enterprises Ltd. operates a unique motion picture, television and recording facility at the old U.S. Air Force Missile Base at Freetown, on Grand Bahama Island. The studio has one of the largest "shooting tanks" in the hemisphere - facilities where water-based and underwater scenes can be shot. They are currently completing production of water scenes for Disney's Pirates of The Caribbean II and III, sequels to the widly successful Pirates of The Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003) starring Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightly.
