Bahamian law and the legal system of The Bahamas is based on English Common Law tradition.

The judicial system of The Bahamas is multi-tiered, including the Magistrates Court, The Supreme Court and The Court of Appeal, which sits as the highest court located in The Bahamas. The final appellate court of The Bahamas is Her Majesty's Privy Council in London, providing for due process and final review where necessary.

Justices of the Supreme Court, Registrars and Magistrates are appointed by The Governor-General acting on the advice of the Judicial and Legal Service Commission. The Judicial and Legal Service Commission is comprised of five persons with the Chief Justice of The Bahamas as Chairman.
