Hi,

I will go to Bahamas (paradise Island) in Dec. for a week to attend a conference. The conference will take place in Atlantis. However, being a student, I would rather stay at a cheaper place. Is there any hotel/motel in paradise island or Nassau under $80 a day? I want to stay as close to Atlantis as possible. If I do stay in Nassau, will transportation be a problem? And, which part of Nassau will be best for me? Also if I come to Nassau without advance booking, will there be any problem getting a room? Last year I went to Fort Lauderdale and realized that there were many hotels next to beaches that would have been preferable for us, which were not advertised in internet. Is it similar in Bahamas?

Thanks.

I'm at the Wyndham in Dec. It's alittle more than $80 a night, but it's probably the best value you'll be able to get on Nassau.

I don't think I'd risk any low end MOTELS. Remember, you're not in the USA. Stay in the larger well known places which depend on it's reputation.

Are you going to CDC conference? There are a lot of cheap hotels under $80 near downtown Nassau -- search for some hotel chain such as Holiday inn, Quality inn. For transportation, on the day of your presentation you may prefer to take a cab (costs about $15 each). On other days when you are not hurry, go take water taxi ($3 each way) or take a jitney bus #10 ($1 each way).
