18 for both drinking and gambling.

Unfortunately, the liquor laws are rarely enforced

BTW: Bahamians (and their spouses) can not gamble.

The last thing on your mind should be vacation and trying to get away from your wifey and young one. At fourteen you shouln't be worryin about "drama" when you have so much more life out there. But, if you do visit, the Bahamas is fresh.

As stated above, the drinking age in the Bahamas is 18. While it is not enforced as vigorously as in the States, I wouldn't bet my vacation on it.

Breaking Bahamian laws while visiting our islands can land you in plenty of trouble. Try parasailing or shark diving if you need a "rush". :)

By the way, it is unlikely you will encounter an American bartender. The Bahamas specializes in hospitality, it's what we do here, and most bartenders are Bahamians.

At 15, I wouldn't be hanging out without my family. Too much trouble to get into. Check the Tourist News or What's On newspaper when you arrive. It will give you details on what's happening the days you are in town. Jetski, parasailing, banana boat rides are tons of fun. Senor Frogs would be fun in the evening.

Where are you parents???? Hope you have a big expense account, çause Freeport is NOT a cheap place to party. You should be worried about getting an education - not where to get drunk. Geez. BTW.. Where are you staying? I'd like to steer clear.

Legal age for drinking on a cruise depends on the cruiseline. Most are 21 for ligour, some say 18 for beer. You'll have to check with your cruiseline for details.
As for Gamblin in the bahamas, the 18 is strictly enforced. Drinking is 18, but depends on the establishment. Most hotels are cracking down, but you may still find some clubs that will serve underage.

You should have no trouble purchasing or smoking cigars, except in areas designated as "non-smoking".

The casinos are very strict about the age limits. Besides, if you were a big winner, you would have to show ID and if you were under 18 you would forfeit your winnings AND get arrested.

I guess drinking depends on the bartender. However, we discourage under-age drinking and the government of The Bahamas does not allow it.
