the ferry is in terrible shape.When we took the ferry ,we were shocked ,how small it was and how dirty.The pool was tiny.When we landed at the bahama's we saw a man painting the boat ,too funny but for real.The whole time sucked.the Hotel was nasty too.Never again.Rip off taxi service and the shops are terrible too.Save your money ,the palce was destroyed no trees left anywhere...save your money and go to mexico or disneyland

In defense of Discovery to Grand Bahama - This actually is a pleasant trip, particularly if you take a little Dramamine about an hour before departure.

The Discovery Sun is enjoyable, and it has decent amenities, including a swimming pool, various sun decks and bars, and a casino, as well as a club. The cabins are well appointed, and worth the extra cost, particularly if the weather is cold or rainy (as in February). The breakfast and lunch on the way to Freeport are good, as is the dinner on the way back to Fort Lauderdale.

Don't confuse this trip with something from Cunard, and you will not be disappointed. While it is not a grand cruise, it is a lot better appointed than a ferry.

Relax and enjoy yourself. My family and I take Discovery often, as we have a home in Freeport. We recommend it.

It takes 5 hours from Ft. Lauderdale to Freeport. There is a ferry that just started service to Grand Bahama from West Palm Beach. It is called the "CLOUD X". THE Cloud 10 currently sails from Friday to Monday leaving West Palm Beach about 9:00 am and Arrives Freeport at 12:00 noon and departs Freeport at 5:30 Pm and arrives West Palm at 8:45 pm.email me for more information.
