Hi! my fiance and i are visiting the bahamas paradise island to be exact in early june. we decided to split up for a day so he can golf and i can go shopping.Is it safe for me to go into the town alone, like where you go shopping i guess its called the straw market.
And also does anyone know how the prices in the gucci and fendi store are compared to the prices in the states, or is it just the same? thanks

It's perfectly safe for you to go into town alone during the daytime. Just keep track of your handbag.
The Strawmarket is open for souveniers, straw bags, wood carvings etc, as well as dozens of other interesting shoppes.

Fendi and Gucci have most of the same products as the stores in the states, sometimes a few additional pieces that don't make it to the US. The prices are similar, but you don't pay tax or duties in the bahamas for purchases under $600 pp.

It's good to know your pricing from back home when you shop duty free.

We just got back from the bahamas yesterday. We went to paradise island also. You have to see Atlantis. There is a wonderful aquarium there. If you go to straw market make sure you know how to say no. They bug you alot to make purchases. But if you just say no thank you and walk away they will leave you alone. Be careful to keep hold of your purse. Have lots of fun and enjoy yourself.
