Hi Janice, "Best" has a subjective connotation and is also relative to each vacationer's needs and budget. Having said that, among the many fine places to stay in that area, my preference would be to stay at the hip and sophisticated Pink Sands Resort on Harbour Island. http://www.bahamas-travel.info/links/399.htm (toll-free: 1-800-688-7678; or: +1 (242) 333-2030) Other good hotels are: Dunmore Beach Club http://www.bahamas-travel.info/links/646.htm (toll-free: 1-877-891-3100; or: +1 (242) 333-2200) Coral Sands Hotel http://www.bahamas-travel.info/links/647.htm (toll-free: 1-800-468-2799; or: +1 (242) 333-2350) How to get there? You can get a flight from Nassau (30 minutes), or Fort Lauderdale or Miami, Fla. (one and one-half hours), to the North Eleuthera Airstrip. From this small airport, you can take a taxi to the ferry dock and catch a boat to Harbour Island. As the island is small, most travel around Harbour Island can be done on foot. You may want to rent bicycles or an electric golf cart — most hotels can arrange for these rentals. More info: Bahamas | Bahamas Vacations | Bahamas News | Bahamas Real Estate
The beaches at Harbour Island were recently named the Best Sand Beach in the World by Conde Nast. A treat for all. More info: Bahamas | Bahamas Vacations | Bahamas News | Bahamas Real Estate
