I am due to vacation from the UK at the end of July at the Hilton for 2 weeks. Is this a good place to stay for a long period - ie in Nassau - and is it family friendly (plenty of restaurants etc nearby ?)

The Hilton is ok. Watch the room cleaning charge (about $8 a day) and the electricity charge (about $4 a day).

Unbelievable.

Hotel is now looking a bit dated.
