I am not sure there is even a law concerning the age for buying cigarettes.

But that's not the point. If you are 17, you really should nip the habit in the bud. It is nasty and really does kill you.

Drug laws are VERY strictly enforced. Almost weekly there are tourists in the courts of the Bahamas receiving sentences for illegal drug possession.

Often, they pay a fine and get deported. On occassion they are sent to jail.

The Bahamas has one of the worst jails in the hemisphere. No electricity, no plumbing, sweltering heat, dirt floors. Definitely, NOT a place where you'd want to spend your vacation.

Forget drugs on this trip, get high on the beauty of the Bahamas instead.

They don't have the same sanitary rules for tatoos in Nassau... I wouldn't risk hepititas.

As for hotel check in.. quite a few hotels DON'T allow under 21... some under 25.. There are only a handful of "spring break dives" that allow 18 year olds to stay without a parent, but they will need large $$$ deposits or a credit card to cover any damages.

Look i live in the Bahamas and i have to just clarify some things posted here.

First off there actually is NO LAW to purchase cigarettes in the Bahamas. people say there is but that's only because simple minded people tend to think that since the United States does it then we do it.

Secondly there is no age limit for a tattoo because yet again there is NO LAW for that.
either. same reason being for the cigarette issue.

Thirdly, yes we do have drug laws but as for people being severely punished for it? it doesn't happen "much". because police usually turn a blind eye to having small amounts of weed on you or just ask for sumtin but that's about it. but if you got enough for intent to supply then you got a problem which leads me to my fourth point..

Fourthly, everything said about the prisons are TRUE. our prison was rated third WORST in the world.

Last of all, dont go to tattoo kingdom they are garbage. if you want a nice tattoo done properly in a clean environment go to Timeless Tattoo. That's where i got all my work done. ask any one and they will be able to tell you where it is;)

Yes, you can bring cigarettes into the Bahamas from the US. I think you can bring at least a few cartons.

Cigarettes are readily available here and cost between $4.25 and $4.75 per pack.
