We will be staying at the Bell Channel Inn (We also have the choice of the New Victoria Inn but I heard it was closed due to the hurricanes.) Does anyone know anything about the area surrounding it....safe to walk back at night? Anything good/bad etc? Can't wait, but curious :o)

I also supposedly won a trip...but if it is supposed to be free..then why do we have to pay $87.50 per person up front? This could def. be a scam! I hear about things like this all the time on tv shows such as Dateline and this sounds like a scam. A free vacation doesn't cost $87.50 up front.

Has anyone spoke to some one who won a trip. I looked up the hotels and they had bad reviews. The one said the New Victorian had hourly rates. Not a place I want to go, even if it's paid for, has the makings of a scam!

I'm going to say that this trip from "Security Travel" is definately a rip-off... Me and my boyfriend entered a contest for a Bahamas Cruise at a local pizza shop, and we were thrilled when they called saying we won. However, I've been doing some research... and they say we were each responsible for $87.00 upfront, then we have the individual $99.00 port tax, on top of the hotel tax which is $15.00 a night per person... not to mention the cost of your tips, drinks, etc... All in all, you'll end up spending over $600.00 for a "FREE" vacation... The Bell Channel Inn is a two-star hotel specializing in hotel/scuba packages starting at $74.00 a night whereas the "New" Victorian Inn, renovated from the recent hurricanes, has hardly any information on it at all, no wonder Danny O' Brian reccomended the Bell Channel, he probably knows just as much as me... If him and his wife spent so much time and effort into these trips, how come I've found more information in the last five minutes than he was able to tell on the message over the phone? this deal is too shady to be any good...

Has anyone taken this? I too think it's a bit shady. If it's a drawing for a free trip..you would think there wouldn't be a million winners which all go to his voicemail with description on the trip. And what I've looked up on the hotels looks a bit shady and "cheap" too. And about the "Admin fee" of $87.50..doesn't that seem a bit sketchy when you win a free trip to have to pay admin fees?

Has anyone went on this trip? Or dealt with them?

I too just won this package deal and was quite happy when I first heard about. However just as everyone else who researched it, I'm coming up with a new mood to all of this. First off I can't find any comment about people using the Discovery Cruise line, I mean I can't even find it on other travel sites. I have read comments from people who have gone through this travel package and stayed at the bell and werent all too upset with the deal. I came up if you just spent the total amount like taxes and all that you would end up spending 493 and so on. Happy hour though heh, can't go wrong with that. I wouldnt recommend this and reporting Security Travel Agency to the BBB for bad business practices of a "Free Vacation" mumbo jumbo.

My girlfriend and I also won a trip. We registered at Dicks Wings in Jacksonville. The travel agent called her yesterday. We were so excited, but will have to pay port fees, hotel taxes, and $87.50 up front. She looked up the Bell Hotel and it looks CHEAP! This is a scam! Whatever you do, do not do this!

I too won this trip. This travel agency must be reported. I was rather concerned when we called the company and got a voicemail. We, my boyfriend and I, called Security Travel the next day and started asking questions about our free vaction. They told us to "Have a Nice Day" and hung up. When we called back and spoke to a different representative she continued to forward us to the voicemail with our questions. This is a definite scam. I believe it should be reported. I am going to call the local news station in St. Pete.
P.S: I won this trip from Smoothie King.
By the looks of the Bell Hotel, you'd have a better time staying at the local Motel 6 on HWY 41.

My fiencee won this trip and we are going the 2nd week of November. So far he has good luck dealing with the people in the agency and getting all of the confirmations. Wish us luck! We will try to post the results when we get back.
