Scooters can be rented by anyone with a valid drivers license (US included). Prices vary. I paid $50 per day, including insurance.

Remember, the scooter rental industry in The Bahamas is not carefully regulated. Make you rent equipment only from reputable operators, and make sure you know how to work it.

Every year, people are killed or injured by the improper use of scooters, jet-skis, and personal watercraft or by the careless or reckless operation of such equipment by others. You should insist on seeing proof that operators have sufficient medical and liability insurance.

You may also want to invest in low-cost traveler’s insurance that includes medical evacuations, as most American insurance companies do not cover this.

Yes, at 16 years-old, with a valid US drivers license, you can rent both a motor scooter and a jet ski. Don't try driving them both at the same time. :)

The speed limit, is the speed limit, no matter whether you are driving a scooter or a car. It varies from road to road, usually from 15-35 mph.

Not sure what the limit is for jet skis, but they only go so fast, but it is fast enough when you are bouncing over waves.

As indicated above, use caution and common sense when renting or using scooters or jet skis.
