If you are not a Bahamian citizen, the first problem you will have is finding work. Foreigners need work permits and they are difficult to get unless you possess special skills that are rare in The Bahamas, or unless a Bahamian company arranges a work permit for you. I'll be down in Nassau on the 24th. I can't wait!!!! But I need to find furniture stores and hardware stores, as we are redecorating our home there. Can anyone make any recommendations??? Something around the Cable Beach area, off West Bay St. I'm also bringing my kids on this trip. Are there any really cool places to bring kids ages 5 and 7? i am 18 yrs old and live in the u.s. (florida) and seriously trying to persue moving to the bahamas for a couple of years. I am a certified scuba instructor and am wondering if that qualifies as one of those "specialty" jobs or am i just plain out of luck? Would an annual residency permit nullify the need for a work permit? also, what does the term indepently wealthy mean(everywhere i look there seems to be a different explination)?
