Is it true that BEC is on strike and electricity is off in the Abacos? If so, for how long? We don't want to go without electricity--our trip is in just over a week.

Last I heard BEC was not on "strike". They are, however, having a "go-slow", which is where they come to work but do nothing. Some of us wonder how that differs from the normal work day. :)

The union action is unfair to tourists and is being urgently addressed by the government. I understand things will be back to "normal" very quickly.

Just left paradise island "in the dark"...which was this past Fri. The power went off Thursday morning around 9am and never came back before we left. I read the Nassau Guardian online and some places on Paradise still have no power.....
