Don't stay here. save your money and go elsewhere in Eleuthera. My husband and I spent good money to stay here and it did not meet our expectations. It's not clean, is lacking in amenties and just did not match the description on the net. Definitely not worth the $1000/week they charge.

Disgruntled guests love to get on a big bandwagon and score points with the world. My husband and I, owners of the Windswept disagree with the above review and wish we could share the whole story of this dissatisfied customer. Unfortunately, that is not possible. We have a great little cottage - full of amenities and VERY clean. We like to rent to people who have an adventurous spirit, who understand the difficulties of maintaining a house on a sliver of an island that is continually assaulted by the elements. Furthermore, our house is in a rather remote location. If you enjoy being away from it all, you will enjoy the location. Should the blender break, the satellite TV go out, or any other electrical device malfunction, our caretaker does the best she can to make sure everything is either replaced or repaired. Eleuthera is very different from the US and NOT for everyone. There are few stores, and getting replacement items to the island can take as long as 2 months, depending on the schedule of the shipping line. We try our very best to make sure everything is in working order, but cannot guarantee every single thing. If you would like to learn more about Eleuthera, traveling to the island, or our wonderful CLEAN cottage, the Windswept, please visit the major vacation rental sites. Once you find our page, you can link to our homepage which has a lot of information for prospective travelers. If you're the type who is scared off by a review such as the above, please don't rent our house. Our best customers and friends are people who are open minded, love the outdoors, and have a sense of adventure. If you wish to vacation in the lap of luxury, please rent accommodations at an all-inclusive!

My husband and I have not stayed at this particular cottage, but we did stay at 4 different locations on Eleuthera, and the owners of Windswept Cottage make a good point. Eleuthera is a fantastic island, and our favorite vacation spot in the world, but it does help to have a sense of adventure! The atmosphere is wonderfully relaxed, and nothing ever happens in a hurry. It's truly a place to "get away from it all," but unfortunately this isolation does come at a price. Embrace this wonderful island and its people for who and what they are! We're returning for another vacation to Eleuthera next week, and we choose it for the natural beauty, peaceful serenity, and wonderful people, not for extravagance and luxury. Speaking from fond experience, our favorite recommendations for staying on Eleuthera are the cozy rental home called "BlueView" in Rainbow Bay for peaceful privacy, independence, and natural beauty, and the friendly "Duck Inn" at Governor's Harbour for attentive service, beautiful orchid gardens, and total immersion in the "island experience." However, I would not hesitate to stay at "Windswept Cottage" solely because of the review above. We first came to Eleuthera as strangers, but left the island as family -- we can't wait to get back... or rather, home! Home isn't perfect, but there's no place like it!

We have stayed at Windswept twice and just love it. I don't know the elevation of the lot, but the view of the waves is fabulous because you're not on top of them - you are INSIDE of them. The kitchen is arranged so you can look into the waves while you prepare your food. The decks are great and we saw the most amazing sunsets from the side deck. I totally disagree with the first reviewer. The house was very clean, there were flowers on the table when we arrived, and a very friendly gardener to greet us. The owners have an outstanding selection of CD's and a great stereo system. No tiny CD player there!! Anyway, don't be scared off by the above review. Check it out! The website is awesome. I agree that Eleuthera is for the adventurous and if you want to stay in a remote location, don't expect the Hilton! Also, the owners are always friendly and very helpful! PS - The bed is comfortable!!!!!

We stayed at WS just a few weeks ago. We loved it. Best quality: It was so peaceful. Also the house has cypress walls and wood flooring so the whole place has a very nice scent to it. It was very very clean and close to the beach. Swimming was perfect. We will return again. The first review here just doesn't make any sense???? Does NOT describe the house we stayed in! Read all of the comments in the guest book - all happy campers!! I recommend this house to whoever likes rustic (and I mean that as a compliment) and charming/artistic accommodations. This is a unique house.

PS - The website was extremely helpful - do look at it because it's very interesting to read. Nothing there was untrue or "BS" as reviewer number 1 claims.

Some people are just out for a free ride. WHY would someone claim that there were many things wrong at Windswept but then opt for a free week as compensation if it was so bad? Windswept is a very nice cottage so don't let one bad review influence you.
