During my vacation to the Bahamas, there will be a need to perform some tasks for my employer in the US through the Internet. Does this require a work permit since is it performing work for an existing employment at a temporary location?

It depends on the work you are performing. If it has something to do with the parent company's business in The Bahamas, you may need a work permit.

If you will be here, actually vacationing, and you need to "phone home" (so to speak) to accomplish Internet tasks based in the US, then no work permit would be required.
