Abaco in general received enough damage that you would want to check with specific marinas for details.

Reconstruction of the damaged areas is being accomplished at a rapid pace.

Does anyone know what happened to Abaco Inn? We were married there, and have tried to go back every year. The Bahamas Tourist Board reports that it is closed indefinitely. Was it wiped out completely? - Or are the owners just not planning to repair and re-open, etc. Would like any info you have. Thanks. Susan H

Have you tried contacting the Abaco Inn directly?

You can get their e-mail address on their website at: http://www.oii.net/AbacoInn/index.htm

Or, try calling the US toll free number: 800 468 8799

The Abaco Inn was seriously damaged from both Hurricanes Frances and Jeanne. They suffered structural and roof damage.

Thanks for the update. Yes, I have tried both "800" number and local number -- no answer. Also, tried to contact them via email, and have not received any response. Do you think they are going to try and repair - or is damage too serious?

How is the rest of Elbow Cay, and Hope Town?

Susan

I am not sure what the plan is for the Abaco Inn. It was a nice little place so I hope they decide to keep it open. I am trying to find out more.

Meanwhile, Elbow Cay and Hope Town are pretty beat up. The whole island is going to take a little time to get back to pristine shape.

Hi-

We live in Fort Lauderdale, and are planning a trip to Marsh Harbor in the first week of May. We have watched with great dissapointment that the "CAT" no longer runs out to GB. Can you provide any advice on the easiest and/or cheapest way to get from Ft. Lauderdale to Marsh Harbor?

We are open to a ferry, airplane, or combination of both. We just want to know what the best options are. Thank you!

We use the services of Cherokee Air out of West Palm Beach Airport (Jet Aviation Terminal) Efficient and friendly service - lots of luggage space. They also have their own private termianl at Marsh Harbour, with Customs, Immigration, etc. It is by FAR the best air service into Abaco!!

Here is a passport questions, Do you have to have a pasport to enter and leave Abaco? I was told that all you need is a birth certificate and two forms of identification. This is great for my wife and I but our two small children do not have two forms of id apart from their birth certificate. Does anybody have any information with respect to this?

Thanks,

David

If you are from the US, Kids under 14 need only their birth Certificates. As for your wife, her ID must all be in one name (birth certificate vs married name), or she has to bring along her marriage certificate to verify the name change. Better to just get a passort than to carry all that paperwork.
Birth Cert. must have raised seal and ID must be official, state with photo.
