I'm tired of paying the horrible insurance and taxes of the Florida Keys (14k per year). I have my house up for sale and I just returned from looking at property in Eluthera.
I've spoken to several Bahamian banks about mortgages and it doesn't seem to be a problem as long as you have 25-35% to put down.
Would anyone suggest a certain part of the island? Buying existing or building?

That's were you're wrong...With the money i'm going to make (on the sale of my house) and the money i'm going to save, the pocket will be a lot greener. Along with the possibility of renting short term and not having to worry about the Keys Nazi's turning me in for renting less than 28 days.
