Animal rights activists have joined forces to call on government for conditions at the dog pound to be improved as a matter of urgency.

The group of charities that have been fighting for conditions to be improved at the Canine Control Unit for more than 15 years say immediate action is required.

In a letter to Minister of Agriculture Larry Cartwright the activists have outlined a list of shortfalls at the Canine Control Unit in the Botanic Gardens, Chippingham, where unwanted dogs and cats are detained and euthanised.
