Possible JetBlue, Atlantis Partnership

A partnership between JetBlue and Atlantis may be in the making with the airline’s CEO confirming that discussions between the two entities were ongoing.

It could mean more visitors winging their way into the country through cross promotions, and as a consequence, a growth in visitor arrivals.

The ability to drive packages through the resort, said the CEO, was a good way for the two companies to partner together for business purposes and at the same time drive business into the country. Routes as far as Los Angeles are now being considered, he confirmed.

That push may be ever more necessary now as an increase in air passenger duty (APD) on all U.K. flights will see passengers traveling to the Caribbean pay up to $240 in taxes, a 33 percent increase from the previous prices.

CEO and President David Barger asserts The Bahamas will remain a competitive destination in the region, largely due to its proximity to the United States.
