Cable Beach Residents Informed On Baha Mar
Nassau, Bahamas – The Ministry of Public Works and Transport and Baha Mar Ltd. representatives met with the communities of Ruby Avenue and Sulgrave Manor, Cable Beach on Monday, April 11 to inform them of plans for the proposed resort including the master plan, core project and the road component, among other things.
In attendance was John Canton, director of Works; Robert Sands, representatives of Baha Mar including senior vice president for administration and external relations; Earle Bethell, director of marketing, Frank Wood; and Wendell Grant, of Reiss Engineering Inc., Government’s representative for the project. Mr. Sands told the residents that Baha Mar has been “sensitive” to the environment. “We have taken great lengths to observe environmental protocols on the project,” he said.
He explained that Baha Mar has created booklists for each of its employees that identifies, trees, protocols on how to deal with oil, instructions on to handle remediation etc. Mr. Canton said plans include construction of a New West Bay Street along with corridor 7 that links New West Bay Street with JFK at the junction of Gladstone Road. The roads will be designed to the standards of the Ministry of Works and will eventually revert to Government.
