The Government’s Budget duty reduction has boosted a major Bahamian auto dealer’s negotiations over bringing an electric car franchise to this nation, a senior executive telling Tribune Business yesterday the move had made it “more viable” by potentially knocking $10,000 and upwards of the vehicle’s purchase price.

While declining to name the car manufacturer he was negotiating with, Rick Lowe, Nassau Motor Company’s (NMC) operations manager, said the decision to reduce the duty rate on electric car imports from 85 per cent to 25 per cent had given the talks more impetus.
