Club 1600 Hosts Back-To-School Event
“A model citizen, Percentie always assisted under-privileged school children in the area with much-needed school supplies,” says club president, Franklyn Winder, speaking of the man from whom the event takes its name.
A known PLP activist, Percentie possessed a bright future prior to his tragic shooting death back on September 7, 2011.
For a second year, Club 1600 handed out school supplies and provided free hair cuts from the Mobile Barber Shop during its back to school event.
The speech club also offered the youths free pony rides, hot dogs and cakes.
Under a learning tent Toastmasters provided the students with tips on how to have a successful school year.
