Retail Space at Humane Society Boosts Local Economy
When Brian Botham stopped by the Humane Society of Grand Bahama last week he was astonished at the remodel of the retail area.
“I couldn’t believe my eyes” said Brian (President of the Humane Society Board); “the colors made the space pop with brightness and the layout was inviting with a variety of diverse products.”
The Humane Society of Grand Bahama is debuting a new retail space now open to the public.
“Before I would just come to drop my dog off for baths or shots, now I can buy food, medicine, toys, treats and everything else I need in one location, it’s fantastic”, said another customer, a proud owner of an adopted HSGB dog.
The response to the new pet supply offerings has been overwhelming and will help the Humane Society to increase their efforts of controlling animal overpopulation and keeping Freeport a beautiful city that tourists will continue to want to visit.
With the help of four Master of Business Administration students from Colorado State University, the Humane Society of Grand Bahama is getting an overhaul.
“We will be working with the Humane Society to increase operational efficiency, increase public awareness of animal overpopulation and implement additional service offerings at the Humane Society to allow them to generate additional revenues,” said Eric Alm one of the four students.
“The services the Humane Society provides contribute millions to the economy. When visitors come to Freeport and Lucaya they don’t typically see stray and roaming animals,” said Alm, “this significantly contributes to visitors perception and experience on the island which keeps them coming back bringing valuable dollars into the economy.”
So head on down to the renovated Humane Society of Grand Bahama to check out their new retail space, pick up your pet supplies, adopt an animal and know that your dollars go a long way towards contributing to the local economy through controlling animal populations.
