The new Thomas Augustus Robinson National Stadium will officially be the home of the National Hall of Fame, announced Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, Desmond Bannister on Saturday evening at this year's National Hall of Fame Banquet. A total of 15 Bahamians were inducted on Saturday night at the British Colonial Hilton Hotel, which also coincided with a celebration of the 2009 World Outdoor Championships Track and Field Team.

Bannister said: "It has been a determination of The Bahamas' Government, that consideration will be given to identifying and assigning a permanent space in the new National Stadium to properly accommodate a fully operational National Hall of Fame, for Bahamian sports heroes. The National Hall of Fame will continue to be a beacon of light for countless generations of Bahamians. It will inspire them and give them confidence to believe that whatever aspirations they conceive, they most certainly can achieve."
