Michael Ronis was the founding chef and owner of Carmine's in New York, Atlantic City and on Paradise Island.
Mr Ronis was also founded Virgil's Real BBQ in Times Square and wrote "Carmine's Family-Style Cookbook" which was released last year.
He grew up in Norma, Connecticut and attended Vineland High School. After graduating he was accepted to Connaught Hotel French School of Cooking in London. He was the first American chef to attend the school. During his time there he cooked for Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles and other royalty.
Mr Ronis is considered an innovator and has won numerous international awards. In Manhattan he started a restaurant called Sweet Victory where he designed a concept of low-fat, low-calorie foods years before their times. Also creating Sassy Sliders almost 10 years before tiny hamburgers became a rage. He has always loved food and loves sampeling five to six different places a night trying anything and everything that interested him.
He was survived by his wife, Elle Ronis, his sisters Shelly Ronis Ross and Susan Ronis and his nephew Andrew Adams.
