Roderick Bowe Takes Command of Bahamas Defence Force
Commodore Roderick Bowe assumed command of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF) at a ceremony yesterday at the force's Coral Harbour headquarters.
Prime Minister Hubert Ingraham advised Bowe to be a fearless leader.
"This disciplined force expects from you not only firmness, but also fairness. As a manager, you must be proactive and knowledgeable about the country, about the force and about those you command by the authority you hold and the example you provide," said Mr Ingraham.
"You must navigate your responsibilities through effective planning and organizational and strategic management. Steady leadership is as central to commanding one of Her Majesty's Bahamian ships or aircraft as it is to commanding Her Majesty's Royal Bahamas Defence Force."
Bowe has taken over from Commodore (Ret.) Clifford Scavella who has accepted the appointment as special envoy to Haiti.
