An arrogant and embarrassed Bernard Nottage tried unsuccessfully to defend the PLP’s record of incompetence, their cavalier disregard for abiding by certain norms, and their mentality that they may do whatever they want with little consequence.

How can the MP for Farm Road ask for a pay increase when many of his constituents are still relieving themselves in toilet latrines and are living in squalor? Why reward incompetence?
The fact is the more a country — especially a small developing country — seeks to avoid confronting such situations honestly, the more corrupt and backward it appears to the rest of the world.
Unions served their purposes then and in many cases destroyed many businesses in the process and in some cases, countries. Unions worldwide are practically nonexistent and no longer serve the purpose that it did in the earlier days.
The Bahamas is in a sad state of affairs in terms of social decay and we are plagued with financial failure as we edge closer to the precipice of permanent despair.
