In a case which could be a “watershed” moment for “the rule of law” as it relates to development in The Bahamas, a judge has allowed an environmental group to seek a judicial review for the Blackbeard’s Cay resort project.
Satellite Bahamas allegedly used more than three times’ the number of accounts initially thought to pirate DIRECTV’s signal, with the programmer having added the wives of the company’s two principals as defendants.
Once again, we have an incompetent magistrate considering granting bail to a man caught with an illegal gun and wasting the court’s time with more unnecessary delays.
A man convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison was also, separately, sentenced to life in prison for armed robbery. But he may end up getting his time in jail reduced because of delays over, what seems to be, trivial matters..
This is almost funny. How can the Bahamas create a dispute resolution center when corruption is so rampant in every area of society? It is not arbitration when one can bribe people to obtain the results they seek.
Incompetent judges, corrupt court employees and crooked attorneys are causing chaos in the judicial system in The Bahamas as nearly every case has to be rescheduled time and time again… and murderers go scot-free far too often.
Go ahead and sign that bail form for your crooked relative or friend. If the person doesn’t show up for court… no problem. Apparently all you have to do is cry in court and you’ll be let off the hook.
A woman who killed her abusive husband is sentenced to 14 years in jail, while a man who raped and murdered an innocent 19-year-old girl gets 6 years. Explain that!
More nonsense from the bewigged bozos of the Privy Council, who, after striking down the death penalty, have now overturned a 25-year sentence of a man who raped a woman, then slit her throat.
