Watch during the course of 2014 for a confluence of contrivances, often by strange political bedfellows, to derail the upward political trajectory of Long Island MP Loretta Butler Turner.
Scared to legalize web shop gambling on his own, disappointed by the failed referendum, under pressure from pastors, yet compelled to satisfy his financial backers, Perry Christie has decided to appoint another worthless committee to decide for him.
A Year after the referendum, every number shop is still in business. In fact, more have been opened since the election. So in essence the government is either powerless to shut them down or simply corrupt.
To describe Perry Christie as a power hungry, self-centred narcissist would, in my opinion, not be an exaggeration.
Don’t mind the fancy clothes and flowery speech; some in the PLP are nothing more than “glorified –––––”. In fact, a suitable acronym for some of this “greasy” hand crew should be: Promises, Lies, Pillage.
Five hundred and nineteen people were shot or stabbed in 2013 according to official Princess Margaret Hospital statistics – yet only 10 attempted murders were recorded by the Royal Bahamas Police Force for the same period.
Astoundingly, we refuse to deal with the root causes of many of our social and economic problems here in the Bahamas and, frankly, those root causes are poor parenting, waste, inefficiency, greed and corruption.
So, why is the government attempting to fool the Bahamian people with the hollow announcement on the BTC deal? What the heck did they gain by all this flim-flam, by all this glib, non-achieving hogwash?
Some within the PLP believe that Philip “Brave” Davis would make a better prime minister than Perry Christie. Sadly, the record suggests that neither of these gentlemen has a clue about government nor governing.
