Perry Christie’s ability to appoint voting stalwart councilors at will has made him invincible. These Christie loyalists protect him from any challenge. They protect him from having to listen to or care about the party’s elite.
Topic: Perry Christie
We know that Prime Minister Christie’s speeches often sound good. But when all is said and done, more is often said than done.
The Prime Minister was wrong, pure and simple, with his boorishness and absolutely fakery in seeking to defend the indefensible position of Ishmael “good Christian” Lightbourne over the non-payment of his legitimate real property taxes.
The prime minister by his admission in the House of Assembly has confirmed what many in the public have long suspected – that is, that the PLP uses its position of influence and power to extract financial benefits and favors for selected PLP supporters.
Free National Movement (FNM) Deputy Leader Loretta Butler-Turner said Prime Minister Perry Christie is the most “incompetent and irresponsible prime minister and minister of finance since the advent of Cabinet government in The Bahamas.”
Perry Christie may have believed in Bahamians, but to paraphrase George Orwell, the maxim seems to have changed to: “All Bahamians are equal, but some Bahamians are more equal than others.”
To describe Perry Christie as a power hungry, self-centred narcissist would, in my opinion, not be an exaggeration.
Christie is sending mixed signals to a country already overwhelmed by crime. The PM “obviously miscalculated the moral climate of a nation who is sick and tired of the unacceptable level of lawlessness and the attempt by the government to codify this criminality into public law.”
Only a complete jackass would think the Bahamian pubic is stupid enough to believe that the BTC deal was anything but a deceptive scam.
