Hollywood Film Casts Extras in Bahamas

Pierce Brosnan is playing his latest role on Bahamian soil and looking for a troupe of Bahamians to assist in his most recent film project.

He has been the world's most dashing secret agent as James Bond and the mysterious private detective as Remington Steele. Now Pierce Brosnan is playing his latest role on Bahamian soil and looking for a troupe of Bahamians to assist in his most recent film project.

"After the Sunset," starring Mr. Brosnan and Salma Hayek ("Frida," "Once Upon a Time in Mexico"), will be filmed in the Bahamas from October to December. To assist the project, producers are looking for Bahamians to add to the cast as extras.

Open auditions will be held Wednesday, October 8 between 6 and 8pm at The Dundas, Mackey Street and Saturday, October 11 between 1 and 3pm at the Dundas. The Bahamas Film Commission, located on the second floor of the Hotel Licensing Building at Nassau Court, will receive headshots prior to auditions.

Craig Woods, head of the Bahamas Film Commission, said Bahamian film officials are delighted and grateful to have such an outstanding project being shot in the Bahamas. A film with accomplished and acclaimed actors like Mr. Brosnan and Ms. Hayek is sure to draw the attention of industry professionals and moviegoers, he said.

The Film Commission, which is in the process of re-launching its efforts in its main North American and European markets, is working to attract more high-quality productions to the Bahamas. The economic impact of film productions is one of the main benefits of attracting films, and the use of Bahamian extras is an example of the economic rewards, Mr. Woods said.

"I am certain that our aspiring actors will be handsomely compensated for any role they may play in the film," he said. "But in addition to actors, we find that several local companies, from clothing stores to electrical shops, often end up assisting such a large production in some way."

Mr. Woods encouraged Bahamian residents to help make the production seamless and pleasant for the production team.
