Earle Bethell Elected As BHA President

Bethell to succeed Jeremy McVean as the BHA President

Members of the Bahamas Hotel Association elected Earle Bethell, Deputy General Manager of the Radisson Cable Beach Resort, to lead the organisation during the coming year.

At BHA's Annual General Meeting last Friday, Mr. MacVean echoed the member's confidence in Mr. Bethell, citing his longstanding dedication to improving the industry and his years of volunteer work with BHA.

Mr. Bethell takes the helm of the BHA, having served most recently as Senior Vice President and as Treasurer prior to that.

For twenty-five years Mr. Bethell has been employed in the hospitality industry, beginning in 1980 when he was a student intern at the Nassau Beach Hotel.  He attended Morris Brown College in Atlanta, where he graduated with honours in 1983.

Working his way up through the ranks, he quickly assumed management responsibilities, serving as Front Office Manager and Director of Front Office Operations at the Carnival Crystal Palace, where he also served as Executive Assistant Manager of the 700 room Riviera Towers.

In 1992 he joined the Radisson Cable Beach Resort, in the capacity of Director for the Rooms Division where he currently serves as Deputy General Manager.

During his term as Senior Vice President for BHA, he has also led their advocacy efforts, working to bring industry and government together to address areas affecting the industry.

His commitment to community service extends beyond the Bahamas Hotel Association. For ten years he has been a member and served on the Board of Directors for the Rotary Club of Southeast Nassau, where he also served as President in 2002. The club garnered a number of top regional honours during his term. In recent years he has also been an active supporter of the Cancer Society, serving on several of their Committee. He also serves as a Director on the Nassau Paradise Island Promotion Board and last year was appointed to the Board of Directors for the Caribbean Hotel Association.
