Bahamas Film Festival Gets 'Two Thumbs Up'
Atlantis provides the perfect backdrop for successful film festival opening.
Some wondered if Paradise Island might sink under the weight of all the people as hundreds attended the opening night Gala for the Inaugural Bahamas International Film Festival.
Cameras were flashing like it was Hollywood as filmmakers, film afficiandos, celebrities, prominent Bahamians, foreign visitors and the just plain curious descended upon the Atlantis Resort for last night's spectacularily successful opening.
The evening started with a champagne reception at Versace in the Crystal Court at Atlantis. Next, it was the International Premier of Steven Soderbergh's Ocean 12. The premier was followed by a Champagne dessert reception at Five Twins at the Atlantis Casino. The film received mixed reviews (mostly good) but the evening received "two thumbs up" from everyone who attended. As usual, the hospitality provided by Atlantis was superb!
The night's events proceeded without any glitches, everything went very smoothly and a fantastic time was had by all. Even the perenially tardy Prime Minister, Perry Christie, was there on time. See our Film Festival Photo Page for pictures.
BahamasB2B salutes Leslie Vanderpool, Sophie Fowler, Mitch Levine, Dario Cecchini, Jennifer Chikes and the many, many other people who contributed so much towards making this such a memorable evening. And, hats off to The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism and especially Atlantis for setting the stage and providing the venue for this historical event.
