This is the country's 31st homicide for the year.

Police investigations were continuing yesterday into the shooting death of a taxi driver off Carmichael Road earlier in the morning.

According to Police Inspector Walter Evans, the driver of a Mercedes Benz contacted the dispatch office around 2:30am stating that he had been shot in the area of St. Babbs Road.

Upon their arrival on the scene, officers reportedly met the victim slumped over the steering wheel with what appeared to be gunshot wounds about his body.

Police said the circumstances surrounding the country's 31st homicide remained unclear.
