Excellent news for movie buffs. Netflix is exapanding into the
\nBahamas. That could be bad news for Cable Bahamas, who recently
\nintroduced their new REVTV product. Also, for Galleria Cinemas, who
\ncharges an arm and a leg to watch movies in cramped little rooms with
\nlousy sound<\/p>\n
But it is good news for just about everybody else..<\/p>\n
The Nassau Guardian reports that Steve Swasey, vice-president of
\ncorporate communications at Netflix, said he thought the timing is
\nright to launch the internet streaming service locally.<\/p>\n
\u201cYes it is [launching in The Bahamas] later this year with Spanish,
\nPortuguese and English content,\u201d he confirmed. \u201cWe were\u2008based only in
\nthe U.S. until last year when we launched in Canada [and] we\u2019ve seen
\ndramatic growth, and it\u2019s been very rewarding to see that.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe decided to push through to another market… The time is just
\nright for Netflix.\u201d<\/p>\n
