One Grand Bahama man is considering taking the government and the Royal Bahamas Police Force to court for unfair arrest last weekend.<\/p>\n
The citizen, who does not want to be named, says he was driving along Queens Highway on Sunday afternoon when he was stopped by a police car, and asked to step out of his car by an officer who proceeded to check his car.<\/p>\n
He said that after the check, one of the officers called in his driver’s license and later said that there was a warrant for his arrest for a traffic ticket.<\/p>\n
He said he told the officers that the ticket had been paid, but they insisted that they had to take him into custody.<\/p>\n
He was held in lock up overnight and went to court the following morning.<\/p>\n
“The magistrate went on this tirade about how much it cost for a bench warrant and how much it cost to hold me in the cell and feed me” said the young man.<\/p>\n
“So the Magistrate read the paper and said it seems I had paid the ticket and that it wasn’t taken out of the system. The Magistrate said the court apologizes and I was released.”<\/p>\n
“We have people stealing, breaking in, armed robbery, killing and raping and you lock me up for that?!” he further asked.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
