{"id":11770,"date":"2011-09-12T09:18:58","date_gmt":"2011-09-12T13:18:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/?p=11770"},"modified":"2011-09-12T09:26:08","modified_gmt":"2011-09-12T13:26:08","slug":"dysfunctional-justice-system-strikes-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2011\/09\/dysfunctional-justice-system-strikes-again","title":{"rendered":"Dysfunctional Justice System Strikes Again"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One Grand Bahama man is considering taking the government and the Royal Bahamas Police Force to court for unfair arrest last weekend.<\/p>\n<p>The citizen, who does not want to be named, says he was driving along Queens Highway on Sunday afternoon when he was stopped by a police car, and asked to step out of his car by an officer who proceeded to check his car.<\/p>\n<p>He said that after the check, one of the officers called in his driver&#8217;s license and later said that there was a warrant for his arrest for a traffic ticket.<\/p>\n<p>He said he told the officers that the ticket had been paid, but they insisted that they had to take him into custody.<\/p>\n<p>He was held in lock up overnight and went to court the following morning.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The magistrate went on this tirade about how much it cost for a bench warrant and how much it cost to hold me in the cell and feed me&#8221; said the young man.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;So the Magistrate read the paper and said it seems I had paid the ticket and that it wasn&#8217;t taken out of the system.
