Nassau will come alive with the dramatic arts Sept 30 – Oct 8 as the third annual Shakespeare in Paradise Theatre Festival returns!<\/p>\n

With five shows, over 10 days and 25 performances, there will be a wonderful diversity of talent, entertainment and enlightenment, featuring Bahamian and international artists.<\/p>\n

The Signature Shakespeare performance is Julius Caesar. Now, Hamlet may be Shakespeare’s most-quoted work, but Julius Caesar surely has a wider range of well-known quotations, from the standard “it was Greek to me” to Cassius’s brilliantly stirring political claim: “honour is the subject of my story.”<\/p>\n

The Signature Bahamian performance is Dis We Tings 2011, a musical production that seeks to acquaint a new generation of urban Nassauvians with their own history and culture.<\/p>\n

SIP welcomes two international productions to the festival this year. Sandra Riley’s Mariah Brown tells the story of an African-Bahamian woman who was one of the pioneers to Coconut Grove; and the Grand Valley State University performing troupe Bard To Go, presents Lovestruck, a 50-minute introduction to the works of Shakespeare.<\/p>\n

Finally, don’t miss Pat Rahming alias Pat Rahming, a mix of his poetry and venerable music that has entered the hearts and minds of countless Bahamians.<\/p>\n
