{"id":134115,"date":"2015-10-30T10:31:57","date_gmt":"2015-10-30T14:31:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/?p=134115"},"modified":"2015-10-30T10:31:57","modified_gmt":"2015-10-30T14:31:57","slug":"tru-tru-bahamian-festival-celebrates-culture-heritage-more","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2015\/10\/tru-tru-bahamian-festival-celebrates-culture-heritage-more","title":{"rendered":"Tru Tru Bahamian Festival Celebrates Culture, Heritage &#038; More"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-134116\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/tru-tru-bahamian-festival-bhta.jpg\" alt=\"tru-tru-bahamian-festival-bhta\" width=\"550\" height=\"325\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/tru-tru-bahamian-festival-bhta.jpg 550w, https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/tru-tru-bahamian-festival-bhta-150x89.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/tru-tru-bahamian-festival-bhta-250x148.jpg 250w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Tru Tru Bahamian Festival will take place on the 7th of November 2015 at the historic 1789 Buena Vista Estate home to John Watling&#8217;s Distillery, located in Downtown Nassau, less than a mile walking distance from the cruise ship port.\u00a0 Free transportation to and from the hotels will be provided to hotel guests at participating hotels.<\/p>\n<p>The Tru-Tru Festival will be a celebration of Bahamian Culture, Heritage, Traditions, Artistic and Culinary Flair and indigenous Flora and Fauna.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the day, the Festival\u00a0will showcase our wondrous family islands and that which makes each island individually unique; our Bahamian traditions, handicrafts,\u00a0food and drink; our beautiful natural environment and our celebrations of song and dance.<\/p>\n<p>The Festival will provide a myriad of experiences for the whole family. The Kids Area will showcase creatures from land and sea, as well as plant life indigenous to our islands. Kids will be able to interact with Bahamian animals, play games and learn about Bahamian traditions long lost to the modern age of electronics. Games from yesteryear such as \u201cRing Play and Plait the Maypole\u201d will take parents back in time.<\/p>\n<p>For our adults, we will have Tru Tru Bahamian food and drinks, handicrafts and art exhibits, just in time for Christmas. In addition the Festival will feature Bahamian sounds and traditional musical celebrations such as The Royal Bahamas Police Band Performance, Gerald Cash Primary School Rake and Scrape Band, the College of the Bahamas Jams Session Band, Ira Storr and the Spank Bank; and as the Grand Finale, The C.R. Walker Senior High School Junkanoo Parade.<\/p>\n<p>The Tru Tru Movement is a private public sector collaborative effort.\u00a0 The Bahamas Hotel and Tourism Association has joined forces with industry partners including the Ministry of Tourism, Cable Bahamas (Rev On), John Watling\u2019s Distillery, The Bahamas Out Islands Promotion Board (BOIPB), The Nassau Paradise Island Promotion Board (NPIPB), The Paradise Island Tourism Development Association (PITDA), The Pointe, Historical Charles Towne Association and the Downtown Nassau Partnership to promote Authentic Bahamian Experiences, Heritage and Culture.
