{"id":1414,"date":"2010-08-28T00:46:15","date_gmt":"2010-08-28T04:46:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/?p=1414"},"modified":"2010-08-28T00:46:15","modified_gmt":"2010-08-28T04:46:15","slug":"btc-in-11th-hour-talks-with-cable-and-wireless","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2010\/08\/btc-in-11th-hour-talks-with-cable-and-wireless","title":{"rendered":"BTC in 11th Hour Talks With Cable and Wireless"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Cable &amp; Wireless Communications remains &#8220;the only show in town&#8221; for  BTC,\u00a0 a Guardian Businesssource has revealed, but no proposal for the  telephone monopoly has yet been officially tabled.<\/p>\n<p>Since the government-appointed Bahamas Telecommunications  Company&#8217;s (BTC) privatization committee rejected bids from two shortlisted  finalists &#8211; the JP Morgan\/Vodafone combination, plus the Atlantic  Tele-Network\/CFAL partnership &#8211; talks have continued with C&amp;W, which  operates in 13 countries in the Caribbean under the trademark Lime.<\/p>\n<p>Those 11th hour talks were a surprise since last year the company turned  down the chance to bid despite being one of the government&#8217;s top picks.
