Nassau, Bahamas \u2013 Over the first quarter of this year, the Bahamas Waste team has worked hard to live up the motto on their latest truck \u2018Service Above Self\u2019 which honours Rotary in The Bahamas.<\/p>\n

\"bahamas-waste\"With that in mind they have helped facilitate a clean dumping area for the Bahamas AIDS Foundation, provided porta-potties for the Potcakeman Triathlon Super Sprint series and are now back working with the Lewis Street Community Centre project, which is spearheaded by the Lend a Hand Bahamas Foundation.<\/p>\n

\u201cGiving back is important to us at Bahamas Waste,\u201d said Francisco de Cardenas, Managing Director, Bahamas Waste. \u201cAs a Rotarian myself I believe in \u2018Service Above Self\u2019 and we want to support our community by helping non-profit organisations where we can. We all prosper when our island looks clean and pristine.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wendy Wong, Bahamas AIDS Foundation event coordinator said, \u201cWe really appreciate Bahamas Waste for their recent donation to the Foundation. They gave us a careful and thoughtful assessment and when it came to waste removal they did all they could to provide the best solution for garbage collection at the Bahamas AIDS Foundation’s Resource Centre.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bahamas Waste provides various types of waste management services including waste collection, bin and dumpster rentals, portable toilets, medical waste handling and much more. When they can, they provide these services for non-profit organisations and do their part to assist local events and clean-up projects.<\/p>\n

\u201cBahamas Waste has been kindly donating their services to the Potcakeman Triathlon events for the last three years,\u201d said Sarah Kennedy, event director. \u201cHaving their facilities on site is vital to the success of our event and the comfort of athletes who participate. It has been a delight to work with them during this time, always being punctual and accommodating.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"bahamas-waste-4\"She continued, \u201cAll the profits from the Potcakeman Triathlon goes towards BAARK’s spay\/neuter and education programs, working all over The Bahamas. So far in 2016 we have already completed 277 surgeries, our goal is 1,000 per year. We rely on generous local businesses like Bahamas Waste to help us maximize our fundraising and create clearer, safer and more educated communities.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Lewis Street Community Centre project is a carry over from last year where Bahama Waste provided large dumpsters to assist the beautification of the community. The beautification project picked back up this year, and the Bahamas Waste team readily leant their assistance once again to clean up the Lewis Street area in downtown Nassau.<\/p>\n
