The Christian Council risks losing the respect of the Bahamian people after failing to strip convicted sex offenders of their titles.<\/p>\n

The Bahamas Christian Council has finally spoken up about the recent unlawful sex convictions of two prominent church leaders.<\/p>\n

In a weak statement released yesterday, the council called on the sex offenders to “make amends” to the families of the victims. They also issued apologies to the victims and the public.<\/p>\n

“In recent days, two pastors have been convicted and now serving prison sentences,” the Council said, referring to Bishop Randy Fraser and Elder Albert Whyley.<\/p>\n

“This is regrettable and unfortunate,” the Council said, adding that “this ought never to have happened”.<\/p>\n

Not exactly a scathing condemnation of the errant church leaders’ actions.<\/p>\n

Despite their clams of Chrisitan authority, the council members have apparently forgotten Jesus’ admonition to those who would harm children:<\/p>\n

“And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea.” – Mark 9:42<\/p>\n

Both Fraser and Whyley led churches that were affiliated with the Council.<\/p>\n

Randy Fraser was found guilty of unlawful sex with a 16-year-old girl, and was sentenced to three years in prison.<\/p>\n

Elder Albert Whyley was found guilty of unlawful sex with a nine-year-old girl and was sentenced to life in prison.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
