{"id":15990,"date":"2011-12-08T10:21:45","date_gmt":"2011-12-08T15:21:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/?p=15990"},"modified":"2011-12-08T10:49:56","modified_gmt":"2011-12-08T15:49:56","slug":"bahamas-has-highest-hiv-rate-in-the-caribbean","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2011\/12\/bahamas-has-highest-hiv-rate-in-the-caribbean","title":{"rendered":"Bahamas Has Highest HIV Rate In The Caribbean"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-16008\" title=\"red-ribbon\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/red-ribbon.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/red-ribbon.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/red-ribbon-150x112.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/>The Grand Bahama Methodist Women&#8217;s Circuit held a seminar that was themed &#8220;Women Networking for Global Change&#8221; at St. Paul&#8217;s Methodist Church on Saturday addressing several issues discussing the nation.<\/p>\n<p>Topics broached during the seminar included, Combating HIV\/AIDS, Promoting Gender Equality and Empowering Women, Promoting Healthy Lifestyles, Achieving Universal Primary Education, Well Drilling in Kenya and Bahamas Methodist Habitat Eleuthera.<\/p>\n<p>The seminar focused on health care and social issues with Dr. Wionna Pratt stressing that HIV\/AIDS continues to be a major problem in the country.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s very serious because we had a conference about two weeks ago and we still have the highest rate in the Caribbean,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>Pratt said the public does not like to discuss it, but it is an issue that needs more discussion.
