{"id":17340,"date":"2012-01-25T10:02:17","date_gmt":"2012-01-25T15:02:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/?p=17340"},"modified":"2012-01-25T10:02:17","modified_gmt":"2012-01-25T15:02:17","slug":"nygard-lawsuit-against-canadian-broadcaster-to-proceed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2012\/01\/nygard-lawsuit-against-canadian-broadcaster-to-proceed","title":{"rendered":"Nygard Lawsuit Against Canadian Broadcaster To Proceed"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_17345\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-17345\" style=\"width: 248px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-17345\" title=\"peter-nygard\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/peter-nygard.jpg\" alt=\"Peter Nygard\" width=\"248\" height=\"186\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/peter-nygard.jpg 248w, https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/peter-nygard-150x112.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 248px) 100vw, 248px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-17345\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Peter Nygard<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Bahamian resident Peter Nygard has won Round 3 of his legal battle with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.<\/p>\n<p>The Winnipeg-based clothing manufacturer\u2019s lawsuit against the CBC  will forge ahead, despite three separate attempts by the state  broadcaster to see it quashed.<\/p>\n<p>The Manitoba Court of Appeal ruled Monday to dismiss the  broadcaster\u2019s appeal of a lower-court ruling in which a judge stated CBC  appeared to be looking for \u201cconstitutional immunity\u201d from lawsuits  stemming from its news-gathering methods.<\/p>\n<p>The case is one of many launched by Nygard relating to CBC\u2019s April  2010 airing of Larger Than Life, a Fifth Estate documentary featuring  former employees speaking critically of the fashion mogul.<\/p>\n<p>Nygard International\u2019s lawsuit was launched a year before the documentary aired.<\/p>\n<p>In it, Nygard claims the CBC induced and conspired with Nygard  employees to breach confidentiality agreements they had signed with the  fashion company in the making of the documentary.<\/p>\n<p>The court also ordered CBC to pay Nygard\u2019s legal costs.
