{"id":19528,"date":"2012-03-19T12:41:47","date_gmt":"2012-03-19T16:41:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/?p=19528"},"modified":"2012-03-19T13:46:27","modified_gmt":"2012-03-19T17:46:27","slug":"still-no-justice-for-marco-archers-family","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2012\/03\/still-no-justice-for-marco-archers-family","title":{"rendered":"Still No Justice for Marco Archer&#8217;s Family"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_12382\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12382\" style=\"width: 200px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-12382\" title=\"marco-archer\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/marco-archer.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/marco-archer.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/marco-archer-150x112.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-12382\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Marco Archer<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The man who police say killed little Marco Archer was arraigned in the Supreme Court recently, but not on charges related to the 11-year-old&#8217;s murder.<\/p>\n<p>In a move designed to fool the Bahamian people into thinking that they are moving forward with the prosecution of the man responsible for Marco&#8217;s brutal murder, Bahamian police paraded Kohfe Edwardo Goodman to court, but it was all an exercise in public relations.<\/p>\n<p>With crime out-of-control, the Bahamian govrnment wanted to make it look as if one of the most gruesome crimes of last year was being addressed by the courts.<\/p>\n<p>But, that&#8217;s not true.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Goodman was actually brought to court to receive a trial date for other crimes he allegedy committed.<\/p>\n<p>Goodman was charged in the Supreme Court with two separate counts of unlawful sex with 12-year-old boys.\u00a0 He had been previously charged for those same crimes in a magistrate&#8217;s court.\u00a0 He was not required to enter a plea when he was first arraigned before Deputy Chief Magistrate Carolita Bethell last November.<\/p>\n<p>Goodman pleaded not guilty to both charges in the Supreme Court yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>In the first case, Goodman is accused of having sex with one of the pre-teen boys on March 12, 2011.<\/p>\n<p>But he claimed that he was not on the island when the alleged incident happened.<\/p>\n<p>As an alibi, Goodman said from February 25 to April 25 he was in Grand Bahama.<\/p>\n<p>Goodman said that several people, including the captain of the boat he traveled on, can verify that information.<\/p>\n<p>Trial for that case is set for November 5, 2012 at 10 a.m. before Justice Indra Charles.<\/p>\n<p>In his second case, Goodman is charged with having sex with a minor on August 17, 2011.<\/p>\n<p>He is also charged with forcible detention.<\/p>\n<p>It is alleged that he took and detained the boy to have sex with him.<\/p>\n<p>Asked if he wanted to present an alibi in that case, Goodman elected to give one at a later date.<\/p>\n<p>He has 21 days to do so.<\/p>\n<p>Trial was set for January 21, 2013 before Justice Roy Jones.
