Clement Bethel National Arts Festival Adjudication gears up to continue after the Easter holidays, educators and parents on Grand Bahama and New Providence commended the programme and what participating meant to their students and children.<\/p>\n<p>Hartman Carey, father of Bishop Michael Eldon High School 10th-grade student Lathera Carey, said he was proud of his daughter and was pleasantly surprised that she performed her way to the highest score in her performance age class on the island \u2013 twice.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI did not know that she could sing as well as she did; but everyday she amazes me,\u201d he said.\u00a0 \u201cI will encourage her to continue to follow her dreams and if that is what career she wants, I will support her 100 per cent.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Music teacher at Walter Parker Primary School Ms. Erica Weir said that her students enjoy taking part in the Festival each year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey love music,\u201d she exclaimed.\u00a0 \u201cThey love to sing, play their instruments and I think have truly been enjoying the National Arts Festival and getting some exposure and getting their confidence up.\u00a0 I think it also helps them in their school work.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_20349\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-20349\" style=\"width: 486px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-20349 \" title=\"st-andrews\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/st-andrews.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"486\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/st-andrews.jpg 540w, https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/st-andrews-150x69.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/st-andrews-250x115.jpg 250w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 486px) 100vw, 486px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-20349\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">NASSAU, The Bahamas \u2013 Primary Music Teacher at the St. Andrew\u2019s School Tom Zumchek directs the St. Andrew\u2019s Junior Choir, during a recent performance at the 59th Annual E. (BIS Photo \/ Eric Rose)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cOnce they listen to their teacher, do as they are told and practice and keep that energy up, they do very well.\u00a0 I am so proud of them,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>Vice President of the school Ms. Monica Smith was on hand for several of the performances by the students and she applauded them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think the students performing here are excellent,\u201d she said.\u00a0 \u201cThey have a history and legacy of doing well in the National Arts Festival; so the children are confident in their abilities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bartlett Hill Primary School teacher Ms. Latisha Taylor congratulated her students for their score for their dance routine \u201cThe Government Dem\u201d and she knows that the students benefit from taking part in the National Arts Festival.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think that they did very well and it is great exposure for them, even though this is just their first time competing,\u201d Ms. Taylor said.\u00a0 \u201cI think that next year they will be even more ready and learn from the techniques that the adjudicator showed them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am very proud of them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mother of St. Paul\u2019s Methodist College fifth-grader De\u2019Janell Dixon, Mrs. Debra Dixon, said she was \u201cso proud\u201d of her daughter\u2019s dance performances that garnered the nine-year-old student very high scores for her various routines.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe really works hard and she looks forward to the National Arts Festival every year,\u201d Ms. Dixon said.\u00a0 \u201cIt gives her a little exposure with her dance technique; so I am proud of her.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am always overwhelmed watching her dance.\u00a0 She always captures my attention.\u00a0 What I love about her when she dances is that she always gives it her best.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In New Providence, Primary Music Teacher at the St. Andrew\u2019s School Tom Zumchek said that this year was the third the choir took part in the Festival and although they were a little nervous onstage, he is always impressed by the it members\u2019 behaviour and respect shown at the event.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe children were excited to be in the Festival,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Mother of St. Andrew\u2019s School fourth-grader Meena Gupta Ms. Kimberly Gupta said she was one \u201cvery proud mama\u201d after watching her daughter perform in the St. Andrew\u2019s School Junior Choir.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am happy to see all of them perform and partake in some of the regular, everyday activities,\u201d Ms. Gupta said.\u00a0 \u201cI think they have put all their efforts into it and it has shown through.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Teacher at Kingsway Academy Ms. Lakeita Adderley said she was excited at the performance of the students from her school, in particular the female gospel accappella group \u201cPerfect Harmony\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey did really well and I was really pleased with them, they just need to sing a little bit slower,\u201d she said.\u00a0 \u201cOverall, I think we did well and we will do better next year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Freeport\u2019s Walter Parker Primary School Vice Principal Ms. Monica Smith summed up the experience best when she added that the students taking part in the E. Clement Bethel National Arts Festival also benefit in ways other than scores from adjudicators.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen children do well in music and they enjoy it, they seem to enjoy almost every other aspect of their school life,\u201d Ms. Smith said.\u00a0 \u201cIt is the icing on the cake for everything they do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>By ERIC ROSE<br \/>\nBahamas Information Services<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As the E.
