{"id":21206,"date":"2012-05-01T10:32:04","date_gmt":"2012-05-01T14:32:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/?p=21206"},"modified":"2012-05-01T11:54:14","modified_gmt":"2012-05-01T15:54:14","slug":"christie-threatens-to-sue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2012\/05\/christie-threatens-to-sue","title":{"rendered":"Christie Threatens to Sue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-14606\" style=\"margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;\" title=\"gavel\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/gavel.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/gavel.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/gavel-150x112.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/>Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) Leader Perry Christie said yesterday he has instructed his attorneys to take legal action against \u201cthose responsible\u201d for a Free National Movement (FNM) television ad that he claims defames him.<\/p>\n<p>Controversy has surrounded the PLP leader after he confirmed that Bahamas Petroleum Company (BPC) was benefiting from advice he was providing as a consultant for Davis &amp; Co. law firm, which represents BPC.<\/p>\n<p>He backtracked a week later claiming that he no longer works as a consultant for the firm.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement issued yesterday, Mr Christie said he has no relationship with the Bahamas Petroleum Company.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;My consultancy arrangements with Davis &amp; Co, under which I had provided consultancy services to various clients of that firm, including BPC, were completely terminated well before the fake controversy over BPC even started.<\/p>\n<p>It has since become political ammunition for the Free National Movement\u2019s campaign.<\/p>\n<p>According to Christie there will be no oil drilling in The Bahamas under a PLP government unless there is public support.<\/p>\n<p>Sources: The Nassau Guardian and The Tribune<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In a common political ploy PLP Leader Perry Christie threatens to sue for defamation.
