{"id":21735,"date":"2012-05-16T08:21:10","date_gmt":"2012-05-16T12:21:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/?p=21735"},"modified":"2012-05-16T08:21:10","modified_gmt":"2012-05-16T12:21:10","slug":"man-gets-six-years-for-armed-robbery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2012\/05\/man-gets-six-years-for-armed-robbery","title":{"rendered":"Man Gets Six Years For Armed Robbery"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-18088\" style=\"margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;\" title=\"armed-robbery\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/armed-robbery.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/armed-robbery.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/armed-robbery-150x112.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/>In the face of overwhelming evidence against him, Garth Hall pleaded guilty to armed robbery in the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n<p>Hall, of Ridgeland Park, admitted to robbing the Sandyport branch of FirstCaribbean International bank on July 28, 2010.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors alleged that Hall drove the getaway car after two other men held up bank employees Denethra Sturrup and Tiffany Donaldson and took $30,317 while armed with AK-47 assault rifles.<\/p>\n<p>Had the case gone to trial, prosecutors would have produced two videotaped confessions and a video of Hall showing officers the escape route.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Bernard Turner sentenced Hall to six years imprisonment, with effect from April 2 when the jury was first empanelled.<\/p>\n<p>Hall\u2019s co-accused, Sean Lightbourne, was acquitted on orders of the judge on April 24 after he disallowed the confession statement.<\/p>\n<p>The case against Hall was expected to resume yesterday, but Hall pleaded guilty on the advice of his lawyer Ian Cargill.<\/p>\n<p>Murrio Ducille represented Lightbourne, who is on bail.<\/p>\n<p>The Nassau Guardian<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Faced with overwhelming evidence against him, Garth Hall admitted to the armed robbery of FirstCaribbean International bank in Sandyport.
