Whirlpool Corporation has introduced a pair of new top-loading washing machines that significantly reduce water consumption.<\/p>\n

The new classic model uses up to 20 percent less water than previous models and sells locally for about B$1,000 before any retailer discounts. The high-efficiency model slashes water use by up to a remarkable 70 percent and retails for about B$1,300.<\/p>\n

“These affordably-priced washers usher in a new era of energy-efficient performance. Consumers will enjoy lower electric and water bills as well as access to all the benefits of a front-loading machine at an affordable, top-loader price,” said Luis F. Barrios of Whirlpool Latin America’s Caribbean marketing arm.<\/p>\n

These washers meet or exceed the United States Department of Energy’s rigorous new energy-efficiency standards, which for the first time restrict amounts of water that a washer may use. The regulations also tightened up the energy efficiency requirements washers must meet to earn the coveted Energy Star rating.<\/p>\n

Both washers operate on entirely new platforms. The classic model has sensors that allow better tracking of washing cycles and a care control temperature feature that controls the amounts of hot and cold water to prevent shrinking or color bleeding. The high-efficiency model achieves a deep clean while protecting the fabric and colors of clothes, and adds a “sixth sense” feature that senses and automatically adapts to what clothes need for a perfect wash.<\/p>\n
